Is replacing windows in the winter a good idea? While there are some drawbacks (mostly for the installers) it can be a very good decision to replace your windows in the winter.
First of all the winter (cold weather) is when your home will lose the most heat though old drafty windows. Energy costs sky rocket and your comfort level is at an all time low. Why not get quality energy star windows installed asap. The sooner you get them in, the sooner you save money and enjoy your home.
Second of all winter is a slow time for contractors and you are likely to get an extra discount if you install during their off season (save even more).
Home owners may think their home will be opened up for a long period of time. Actually windows can be installed by removing only one or two at a time and the new window is installed in a few minutes.
The whole job may take only a day or two. Two days is not a huge sacrifice for several months of enjoying a warmer house, energy efficient windows that actually work and saving a beacoup amount of money on your heat bill.
So I say, “Go For It!”
